This is a very common species of milkcap, often outnumbering all other members of the genus in an oak wood. It has a reasonable flavour, though a little bitter even when cooked. A classic ingredient for a 'mixed mushroom dish', I think. The dull, matt, orange/brown cap, with occasional pockmarks and nearly always with concentric markings on the cap, it is an easy species to identify. Just a pity that it doesn't taste a bit better...
